And I walked into that building... Why was it? What made me think our computers would be ready the week before school starts? What made me think I'd get some time alone? Why did I think I wouldn't argue with Matt? Oh, and there was Judy, standing like a spector, even dressed all in white... She said, "All will be well." Will "all" really be well? As in a deep hole with water at the bottom? ("What's that, Lassie? Timmy's in the well?") He told me I can't drink coffee in my room. I told him that we're going to have an interesting year...
And, I know I'm a music snob beyond proportions, but I entered Mr. Matt's office and he was blasting Journey. I thought it was just a song on the radio and openly MOCKED him. He used the sign [kiss-fist] to show me how much he loved his Journey CD. Swear to God. "Open Arms" was scratching on... and Oh, Lord help me.
Help.

The only song that I deem okay is "Lovin, Touchin, Sqeezin" from 1979... and only because of the nanner-nanner-nanner tone to it. Did you know they were originally a sprout from Santana? Then all the good people left, the 80's happened and the record exec's put together Journey with Steve Perry as a Power-Ballad band. Why I just looked this up? I want to take up meaningless brain-space I guess.
I told you about a friend of mine in high school that was convinced the words to Open Arms were, Broken Arms? True. And that's all I could think in Matt's office as he was waggling the handbook in front of my face. Sigh. Nod and smile. Do what I need to get done. Just Teach. Just Teach. Just Teach.
It would be well if she were in the well perhaps ... : )
Why no coffee? Coffee is the one ingredient that should be mandatory in all high school classrooms! Is he trying to follow the exact letter of the handbook? Oh my ...
Journey was good when Steve Perry was at the helm and I was like 12 ... Can you get him to at least switch to Styx? Maybe "The Grand Illusion" could be the theme song for the year. I'll copy the disc and send it to you so you can play it in the mornings on your drive to the well.
Hang onto the bucket and you won't fall in ...
: )
